Microkarma matches up donors with places that need schools or curriculums.

The match happens quickly with nearly 100% efficiency. The P2P donation mechanism we engineered holds the funds in escrow until the school is confirmed as delivered.  Because this process is automated, no middle-man charity is needed, so nearly 100% of the value of the donation makes it all the way to the destination. Donors can be certain that nothing is wasted on dinners or flights or advertising, etc.  Everyone that makes a donation for a school will either see that school at the destination, or instantly receive the donation back on day 90.  With such a guarentee, Microkarma is engineered to make giving fun and rewarding.

Microkarma enables a donor to create a school* anywhere in the world for 270 USD, guarenteed.

Three parties take part:

Teachers

Teachers request a KA-computer.  We contact the teachers to confirm it's a valid request, then we put the request on the map. If you are a teacher or want to request the donation of one school server, please submit your request at request.microkarma.org.

Donors

Donors select a request from the map and fund it.  The funds are held safe by a smart wallet program, not released until the computer delivery is confirmed. If you are a donor, and can spare 5 minutes and 270 USD, visit donate.microkarma.org for a rewarding experience.

Deliverers

Deliverers are technical angels that prepare the computer with the education software, deliver it, and show the teacher how to use it.  When the delivery is confirmed, the smart wallet releases the donation to the deliverer.  If you know how to install software and enjoy a mission, look for a funded request near you on deliver.microkarma.org, and help to deploy education!

*What do you mean school?

A school needs students, a teacher, and a curriculum.  Microkarma enables donors to deliver a computer prepared with a complete high school curriculum for use by the teacher and students.  The donation provides a computer pre-loaded with KA-Lite, an offline version of KhanAcademy.org that includes a full middle school and high school curriculum, hundreds of video lessons, quizzes and exams.  So it can bring students up to high school diploma equivalence.

The computer can be used to view the lessons and take exams, and also works as a server so that many students can simultaneously view different lessons using a phone or tablet with wi-fi.  No internet access is necessary.

The computer can by synced from time to time with a teacher account at KhanAcademy.org.  So, by request, donors can receive updates on the actual progress of the students benefitting, allowing the donor to actually know the progress of the students over time.  This is extremely rewarding. The donation can also include a solar charger for remote locations.
